Snapseed Gets A Radical Makeover

I’ve told you how much I like Snapseed, a great, free photo editing app available for Android, iPhone and iPads. Well, the developers have given that app a radical makeover. Even the icon is different.  It actually is an entirely new app. I found out about the update when Snapseed disappeared from my phone home screen. I’m an avid cell phone photographer, so it’s one of my most-used apps.  I went looking for it in my apps and found a brand-new app with a completely different interface!

Here’s what the start screen looked like before.

Here’s what it looks like now.

You tap the little phone icon to select a photo from your tablet or phone.

Then you can select a photo from recent photos or tap the 3 line menu button in the upper-left corner.

From there you can pick other image files or choose a cloud account.

Once you select a photo, you’ll see this screen.

It’s much sparser than the edit screen in the previous version of Snapseed.

Choose the +  icon to begin editing.

Once you tap the tool you want to use, adjustments are made by dragging your finger or stylus up or down a menu.

Adjustments are made by dragging right or left. It takes some time to get the hang of the this touch menu.

Use the check icon to apply changes or the X to cancel.

In part 2 of this tip, I’m going to take a look at the new features in this version of Snapseed.  Snapseed is available in the Google Play and Apple App store.
