KFC tried out an experiment that lets people eat their chicken and still be able to text or message without worrying about getting grease all over their phones.
The company handed out light and flexible keyboards with their trays of food. These keyboards can sync to your smartphone and allow you to keep typing while you eat.

They’re called Tray Typers and replace the usual paper tray with an image of specials or something for the kids to color on.
The mats use Bluetooth to sync with tablets or smartphones. You pair them just like any other Bluetooth device, by holding down a button on the keyboard.

These Tray Typers are completely reusable. They only need to be wiped down and occasionally recharged. The company tried it out for the opening of new restaurants and they proved to be a huge hit.
Social media postings about the restaurants went through the roof from those locations. Social media has become increasingly important to restaurants with places like Chili’s spending millions to redesign plating to make their food appear more attractive on social media.

There are no firm plans to see the Tray Typer in U.S. Restaurants yet, but it likely won’t be long before some social media savvy chain starts offering them as standard equipment.
