I Can’t Find My Stuff In Windows 10

Susan’s having some issues finding her favorite programs in Windows 10. She writes:  I’ve been reading your techies about Windows 10. It hasn’t helped me find a product I purchased from you quite a while ago! I’m looking for my iolo premium system! It’s GONE! (Like a lot of other things!) I can’t even find it OR Internet Explorer, and I need them both. Can you help? P.S. I’m sorry I let them download this totally confusing program in my computer!

Susan, finding a program in Windows 10 is really no different that finding it in Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Internet Explorer is still there and so is your System Mechanic.

There are two quick ways to find them. You can type the name of the program into your search box in the start menu and click on the result.

Or, in the case of Internet Explorer, just tell Cortana to “Open Internet Explorer.”

You can also click on All Apps and find the programs listed alphabetically.

If you use a program like Internet Explorer frequently, you’ll see on your Start Menu under Most Used Programs.

You can also pin a shortcut to the program to your Taskbar or to your Start Menu.

I’m not sure what’s confusing you about Windows 10, but we’d be glad to help answer any of your questions.

  1. Is it possible to download win 10 system only, not a photo copy of the lot as this could include a virus. thanks alan

  2. Hi Cynthia, thank you again for all the great tips. Could you tell us please why we don’t get a Menu box/display up when we place our sim cards in or when we place our USB cord in from our camera. (Sorry I have forgotten what it is called) – this Menu use to come up when we placed our sim card in or USB cord in from our camera’s in Windows 7, asking us what we would like to do – eg. Open this file, etc.
At the moment I have to go and look for my camera or sim card in File Explorer’s Navigation Pane.
    Thank you so much again,
    Very Much Appreciated,
    Karen.

  3. I miss those yellow notes from Windows 7. I miss having them handy to leave notes for my husband where they are most helpful on the PC. Now I have to use the real ones and hope they stick to the screen. Is there a way to get that feature on Windows 10? HELP!

  4. Good Morning my friend Suzan in win7 when starting her email ( outlook) she was able to type the first letter of her name and then list would show up then she could click on her name and it would be in the send list, now the list does not work, any suggestions.
    Thank you

  5. Question: Is it possible to configure the desktop in Win 10 to look and function like the desktop in Win XP & Win 7 (with the classic icons for my various programs lined up from the left margin, and not tiles)?

  6. Question of my own. on Windows 10 On the all apps list is Games and under that is Pandora’s Box. That is my all time favorite computer game. I think one of the best made for adults and children as well. My old version will not work on more recent versions of Windows and I was so happy to see it back. But nothing happens when I click on it. Is it there or not? Is it coming later? Why would MS let such a good wholesome, challenging game go?

  7. Dear Sirs,

A while ago I purchased the USB Rechargeable Voice/Audio Recorder from you and I really love the product. But since I installed Windows 10 it does not work anymore.
When I try to use it I get an error message saying “these files are not supported.”
Is there anything I can do or install to get it to work in Windows 10?

  8. Love all these questions -each one exactly what I waned to ask and need the answers also-please!
    Help! BEFORE I install 10-

  9. Upon downloading Win 10, I lost one-half of my Contacts list and my e-mail folders. Is there any way to recover/locate them?

  10. Why are you people such schrills for windows 10? There is a ton of things wrong with the OS and your covering everything up. What’s with that I’ve worke with computers for over 40 years and I have never seen an OS as bad and as devious as Windows 10. Why don’t you do an ounce of research and MS’s own forums and review some of the problems. Please unsubscribe me . I deal in fact and not fiction and your group should be ashamed of yourselves.

  11. Dear Cynthia,
Thank you so much for sticking with all of us who learn from your lessons given, you been a savior to me more then once.
I too have a lot of trouble with Window 10 but hope to learn the ins and outs just like in Window 7 in time and again with your help.
Rite now my biggest problem is, how to get things from My Picture Folders in to an email to send out. Even more important to get the things from My Pictures to a customer support page in internet Explorer.

I would so very much appreciate your help in getting this task accomplished.

Respectfully a Senior that needs a helping hand.

  12. Dear Cynthia,

I hope you give me a helping hand on my picture question, especially how to get pictures from My Pictures to a Customer Support page in Internet Explorer.

    Most grateful respectfully,

  13. Dear Cynthia,

Here is something I have known to do but I cannot get it together in Window 10.
I like to keep a folder on my desktop to which I send things from my email I like to keep, can you help me with that.
I know it is not an important thing but good to know.

    Respectfully,

  14. I can’t import pictures from my iPhone, when it asks I click import & it says something went wrong. I can’t scan to my pictures it says I need permission. I can’t delete photos I don’t have permission. Please help & thank you!!!

  16. I’m with Susan here. How am I supposed to type something in the search box when I can’t find the search box!?!. Everything useful is BURIED in that new Windows 10 startup page. Dump the damn meaningless boxes with misleading labels, and bring back clearly labeled icons that actually take to to the site, page, or subject you are trying to find.
