eBooks – How Can I Read Them?

Irene has a question about eBooks. She writes: A friend of mine has written several novels, but they are only available in eBook form from Amazon. I do not own a Kindle. I do have a Samsung Tablet and a Windows 10 PC laptop. Can I purchase and read her books? Or would I have to buy something extra?

The good news is that you don’t need anything extra to read your friend’s books. You don’t say what format they’re in. Items sold on Amazon could be in their proprietary eBook format or they could be in the form of  a PDF.

If they are in PDF form, you can read them on your tablet and PC using Adobe Reader or any number of free PDF readers. For other eBook formats, I suggest downloading the Free Kindle App. You can get in the Google Play store for your tablet or in the Windows Store for your laptop. It won’t take more than a minute to download.

  1. Thank you for all your great info first of all. I have the Kindle App on my iPad but to go a step further how can I get the iPad to read that book to me?

  2. Great answer Cynthia! I own a Kindle but have also downloaded the Kindle app to my computer, my notebook, and my smartphone. The nice thing is, it doesn’t take up a lot of space.

  3. I have been receiving “Technical Tips” for a number of years and have learned so many great tidbits.

How about informing your members all about computer user’s clubs and their advantages?

I have been a member of a computer club for 25 years plus. I don’t know what people do who don’t have their computer club to help them deal with all their computer issues.
