Installing An Amazon Fire TV Stick In 5 Minutes

I’ve talked a lot before about TV streaming sticks like Roku and Chromecast and how they are easy to install. Now I’m actually going to show you. I purchased and installed an Amazon Fire TV streaming stick last week and I thought to take some photos on my phone while I did it.

I took the shots with my phone, so they aren’t the best composed or well-lit photos you’ve ever seen. Plus the bedroom is just a little bit dusty. However, this actually did only take 5 minutes

If you aren’t familiar with a streaming stick, it’s a device that allows me to watch programs from services like Netflix, Hulu and, of course, Amazon Prime Video.

Here’s what the stick and remote look like in the box.

The stick is just a bit larger than a USB flash drive.

It also comes with a power adapter and cord. You can plug it in without a power source, but it will work much better with one.

Let’s get started on the installation time. We’ll start at 7:20 p.m. Once the power cord is plugged in, we’re ready to install.

Here’s the HDMI port on the side of my HDTV. This is where the stick goes.

Here it is plugged in. I seriously need to dust.

The Fire TV began working right away. Once I pressed the appropriate button my remote, the set-up began. It is now 7:21 p.m.

I was asked to choose a language, and then it immediately began searching for my wireless network.

I used the remote and on-screen keyboard to put in the password and I was connected within seconds.

It’s now 7:22 p.m.

If you purchased it from Amazon, it will already be set up to your Amazon account. If not, you’ll have to log in with your Amazon username and password.

It’s now 7:24 p.m. A helpful video explaining about all of Fire TV’s features will begin to play.

Since it’s from Amazon, the Amazon Prime app is already good to go. But I easily went to the app store and downloaded Netflix and YouTube apps in less than a minute.
