I love when I can bring you articles like today’s Cool Site. I ran across a post somewhere on the internet that featured a single Japanese manhole cover, and thought to myself, there has to be a place where there is a gallery of these beautiful art pieces. I was right! I found this article from This is Colossal and I’m thrilled to share it with you.

What I really love is that the site just immediate gives you what you came for – images of painted manhole covers – and then gives you information about them after you’ve had your fill of eye candy.  So when you arrive all you have to do is scroll down the page to view the manhole covers.

After looking at the images you get information about them, and a link to S. Morita’s Flickr where you can see more. (15 pages more!) I highly recommend following that link if you like what you’ve seen in the gallery. There you can see some of my favorites like a mermaid, sheep, and an abstract floral design.  I also love that this link includes manhole covers that aren’t painted but are still in interesting designs like koi fish, samurai, flowers, and more!

It was a lot of fun to look through all of these manhole covers. I hope you’ll check them out today!
