I love when I can bring you articles like today’s Cool Site. I ran across a post somewhere on the internet that featured a single Japanese manhole cover, and thought to myself, there has to be a place where there is a gallery of these beautiful art pieces. I was right! I found this article from This is Colossal and I’m thrilled to share it with you.
What I really love is that the site just immediate gives you what you came for – images of painted manhole covers – and then gives you information about them after you’ve had your fill of eye candy. Â So when you arrive all you have to do is scroll down the page to view the manhole covers.
After looking at the images you get information about them, and a link to S. Morita’s Flickr where you can see more. (15 pages more!) I highly recommend following that link if you like what you’ve seen in the gallery. There you can see some of my favorites like a mermaid, sheep, and an abstract floral design. Â I also love that this link includes manhole covers that aren’t painted but are still in interesting designs like koi fish, samurai, flowers, and more!
It was a lot of fun to look through all of these manhole covers. I hope you’ll check them out today!
