Welcome! This site offers free lesson plans to help you teach Roald Dahl’s stories in your classroom. It promises at least one lesson plan for each popular story, and they’re adding more in the future.
When you arrive at the site, you’ll land directly on the Teach and Learn section. All you need to do is scroll down the page in order to see the different lesson plans. Currently, there are two pages of lesson plans. Each one has an image and a brief description of what the lesson plan includes. Clicking anywhere in the area for that title will take you to the lesson plan page.
On the lesson plan page, you’ll find an overview of what the unit will teach and links to activities that might be cool to include on the left side of the page. On the right side of the page, you’ll find a link to the lesson plan (a very high-quality .PDF) and classroom resources (including testing options).
Currently you’ll find lesson plans for The BFG, Boy: Tales of Childhood, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, Danny the Champion of the World, The Enormous Crocodile, Esio Trot, Fantastic Mr. Fox, George’s Marvellous Medicine, The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, Going Solo, James and the Giant Peach (my favorite), The Magic Finger, Matilda, Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts, The Twits, The Witches, and The Vicar of Nibbleswicke. That’s quite a bounty! As an instructor you have lots of options for teaching Roald Dahl stories.
