If you have an Android phone or tablet, you get all of your apps through the Google Play Store. Fortunately, there are more than a million free apps, but sometimes you’ll come across one that costs a few dollars that you’d like to play. If you’ve never purchased an app before, the process can be a little intimidating, let’s look at how to do it.
First, you need to go to the Google Play Store. You can go to play.google.com or tap on the icon for the Play Store.
On the left-hand side, tap the menu button and look for My Account.
Choose Add a payment method
- Click on Add a payment method and your debit/ credit card or PayPal account. On this phone, you see there’s also the option of choosing billing through my wireless company.
You can also redeem gift cards or promo codes. For credit cards and Paypal, you’ll need to type in the pertinent account details and save it under your profile.
When you purchase a paid app, you can click on “buy.” Then click “continue.”
Then select your payment method
Confirm your purchase and then download.

Myself, I do NOT have any selling service keep my information (other than maybe an email address and name), especially credit card information, on their servers. Entering in payment information each time can be a pain, but I’d rather that than increase the risk some hacker getting into my personal account information by hacking into Home Depot, Lowe’s or who-ever.
Google Play may be ‘secure’, but would make a GREAT notch in some hackers belt and I’m sure many are trying every single day to get in. All it takes is once and your screwed.
Also, using a pre-paid card, that are available in most any store now, are a safer way to pay for on line things… just watch to check for account fees and expiration dates.
