If you’re a Netflix fan like I am, this reader’s problem is a nightmare. “I’ve always had Netflix on my tablet. It disappeared now Netflix won’t let me watch movies says my tablet won’t take it can someone please tell me why.”


I’m a little short on details here, but I think I can come with some troubleshooting steps that will help you out.  To watch Netflix on your tablet, you’ll need the Netflix app.  If the app was somehow deleted or removed from the home page and you can’t find it, you’ve got a problem.  If you attempt to watch Netflix using your browser, you’ll get an error.

I can’t tell from your question if the app has disappeared or if you just can’t log into the app. Sometimes you will be logged out after an update. Then you’ll need to enter your username and password again. Be careful with that. Passwords are case sensitive and one little extra space or typo can leave you locked out.

I’m going to ask this seemingly obvious question: Is your Netflix subscription up-to-date and paid for?  There’s a monthly fee for using Netflix and if the credit card you were paying for it with were to expire, then the monthly payment wouldn’t go through.

If the Netflix app is still on your tablet and just won’t open, there a few things to try. I’m going to give the instructions for an Android tablet here. The process is fairly similar for an iPad.

Open the Google Play Store icon to open. Here’s what the icon looks like.


Tap the menu icon.


You’ll then want to look in your installed apps.  First, tap the Update tab and look to see if your Netflix app is in need of updates. If so, tap the update button.


Then tap the Installed tab.  Scroll down and look for Netflix. If you see it, tap on it.


Try hitting the open button and see if it works.  If not, hit the uninstall button. When the app is finished uninstalling you can hit install again. Now, try opening it. Does it work?


If you don’t see the app, search for it in the App Store and then tap Install. You’ll have to log in.
