Bring Laughter Into Your Life

Laughter. It’s great. It’s stress relieving. It makes us feel good. It can become our own personal culture among family, friends and other groups. One look or one quip can bring a roar of joy ranging from the crude to cute.

You know you need laughter (like it…want it…obsess over it), so don’t waste hours looking for it. Here is how to navigate through media as well as some other suggestions.

YouTube is an excellent hub for several comedy media outlets and their app is available for several devices.  You can watch on a browser or on your tablet or phone.  If you happen to have a smart TV, streaming box, or game console, you can watch right on your TV absolutely free.

No account is needed to just watch videos, but if you want to subscribe to a channel, you will need to log in with a Google account.  If you have a Gmail address or an Android phone, you already have one. Just log in with it. If not, you’ll have to create a Google account (username and password). It’s a simple as providing an email address and password.

Google keeps track of what you watch and offers specific suggestions based on what you view. It even keeps your recent viewing history.

On desktop computers, go to “Sign In” in the top right corner. On mobile devices, go to the person-shaped icon in the middle.

Here are some channels you might want to check out:

The Funny or Die channel (the house that the “Landlord” skit built) is nicely segmented with the current week’s most viewed videos, specific comedians like Zach Galifianakis, and various videos. It’s a great challenge to make someone laugh, but you can make your mark by uploading your own comedy content … just don’t try to hard.

Other YouTube outlets include The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, The Onion, College Humor, and Improv Everywhere, The YouTube site will always suggest similar channels for you in the right column, but it’s best to quickly find your favorites and subscribe to them. Plenty of comedy collections out there as well.

There are so many media sources for additional laughs like funny movie translations, jokes, pranks, memes, sports bloopers, movie bloopers, police blotters, fun name generators, puns, riddles, your fashion sense and even Amazon product reviews. You can even use this resource to change the voice for more laughs.

You might even want to keep a list of things that make you laugh then assemble them in your own video (just be sure to check copyright/fair use laws).

Remember the absence of feeling emotion is laughter’s enemy, so feel the funny.
