A friend of mine recently suffered a heart attack and was also diagnosed with diabetes. He’s a bit of a foodie, so the idea of a restricted diet was a big blow.  He discovered EatingWell, a site based on the magazine. I used to have a subscription to the magazine years ago, so I was interested in checking it out since he’d been posting some scrumptious looking pictures of meals prepared from the site. You can click here to visit eatingwell.com.

At the top of the homepage, you’ll find tabs for Healthy Recipes, Weight Loss, Special Diets and Meal Plans along with a special section about the basics of healthy eating and instructional videos.

Click the Special Diets tab and you can choose from plans designed for those with diabetes, high blood pressure, food allergies, and more.

For example, the Diabetes Diet Center features articles about the diabetic diet, videos for diabetic-friendly dishes and a variety of recipes.  I’ve had the cloud eggs. They are delicious.

When you browse the recipes, you’ll see that each of them is tagged with what type of diets the recipe works with. The cloud egg recipe is nut-free, soy-free, diabetic and heart-friendly, plus low in carbs and sodium.

There are also newsletters available.  It looks like a great starting point for healthier eating.
