Should I remove duplicated Windows updates?

After reading our article about Windows 10 updates (click here to read), Barbara has a question :

“Reading your newsletter tips dated 9/19/17 re Windows 10 updates: I found the update (KB890830) removal tool 8-10 & Windows Server 2012. 2012 R, 2016 x 64 Edition 9-17 (KB890830) installed 3 times; 7/31, 8/10 & 9/13. Should I remove the first or last two?”

confused

No need to remove those prior installations. The 8/10 and 9/13 updates added additional information to the update installed on 7/31.  Windows updates are cumulative, building upon previous updates. It won’t install the same thing 10 times on your PC.  The removal tool is updated constantly because the types of items it needs to remove are always changing as hackers come up with new strategies for attacking devices.
