While I’m building my reading list, I was thinking about how long it would take me to read some of the books, so I decided to see if I could find a way to gauge my reading time. I found How Long to Read This!
This site gives you a test to see how long it will take you to read a book based on a sample read. It’s important to read at the pace you would read the book if you want an accurate words per minute rating.
To learn more, check out the How It Works section where they break it down into steps. Then, you can either use one of the books on the main page, or search for a book of your choosing with a search engine. After you’ve selected a book, you’ll find a sample passage (most usually the blurb from the back of the book or a portion of the introduction in my experience) and a timer. Click the timer and then start reading. When you’re finished, click the timer again and it will calculate the words per minute (WPM) and give you an estimate of how long it would take you to read the book.
How fast can you read your next book? Go check today!

A cool and useful tool. Thanks for sharing.
Dear Cyn & Amanda: I am an avid book reader. A 200 page book takes me about an hour and a half of steady uninterrupted reading. I can read up to two books a day if I have nothing else to do. Nice to be retired!!! Thanks for the great tips. G.Birth
