A reader is concerned about a notification that pops up at start-up and shut-down of his Windows 7 PC. “The Windows 7 Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation.” It then gives options for activating Windows.
The solution is pretty simple. As long as you know that you’re running a legitimate version of Windows 7 that was properly paid for by whoever installed it on the PC (or it came pre-installed from the manufacturer), just follow the instructions. Click on the Use the automated phone system option. Follow the instructions of the Wizard. You’ll be given an ID to enter over the phone (be careful) and then you’ll be given an activation code for your system to enter.
That should take care of the issue.
