Use Gmail’s Dropbox add-in

Yesterday I showed you how to find and install the Dropbox cloud storage add-on for Gmail. Click here to read that article. Today, let’s explore how to use it.

Go to your Gmail inbox online. When the Dropbox add-in is installed, it will be visible in the right pane. Click on any email and then click the Dropbox icon.

This pane will open on the right of the inbox. Click on Sign-in to access your account. If you’re new to Dropbox, click on Create an account.

I’ll choose the option to sign-in with Google.

Now that you’re logged in, here’s how you can use the Dropbox add-on. When you receive an email with attachments, just click the Dropbox icon.

Then select one or all of the attachments in the side-panel.

You can then choose just where you’d like to save it in your Dropbox. It’s a great way to make sure you don’t leave an important attachment in an email and accidentally delete it.

The feature to share Dropbox files with this add-on isn’t live yet, but Gmail says it is coming soon. I’ll update this article when that feature goes live.
