If you have an iPhone or iPad, there’s a great free app that helps teach kids the basics of using a phone. The best part is that they can practice on a real phone.
The app uses animated lessons and guided practice sessions to teach kids important skills like answering the phone, placing a call, how to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency, and what to do if there’s a stranger on the other end of the line.
There’s a phone simulator that allows kids to practice in a safe environment.
Memory games help kids learn how to memorize phone numbers and you can program the app with custom phone numbers and audio to teach kids the numbers they need to know. There’s a special mode for practicing dialing 9-1-1. If you live in a country with a different emergency number, you can customize it for the emergency services number for that region.
The app requires iOS 8.0 or later and is compatible with iPhones, iPads, and the iPod touch. Click here to learn more about it: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ready-set-dial/id1435714699 or search for Ready, Set, Dial in the Apple App Store.
