Rollable TVs are coming soon

Rollable TVs are coming to a store near you this year but will you be willing to pay the price? LG is bringing out a line of OLED (organic light-emitting diode) televisions.

The screen rolls up and disappears into a fairly small box. LG showed off a 65″ version of this technology at CES 2019.

The screen is also able to change size with just a touch of the remote, meaning no letterboxing on wide-screen movies. These models will also work with smart home systems like Alexa and Apple Home Kit.

Since OLED technology doesn’t require a backlight like convention monitors, it’s possible to just roll up the screen and make it completely disappear.

The TVs will be available in South Korea later this year but there’s no exact date on when they’ll be for sale in other countries.

One drawback, expect them to be expensive. The president of LG admitted price could be a major sticking point for these new models but he also says the company is working on bringing the same technology to smaller devices like tablets.
