Laumeier Sculpture Park

The Laumeier Sculpture park officially got its start in 1977 after Mrs. Matilda Laumeier donated the land near St. Louis, Missouri. In 2015, the park was awarded a grant that allowed them to create this online archive that features the history of the park dating from 1976 to the present day.

Here you’ll find an interactive timeline organized by decades and broken down into Story, Milestones, and Sculpture. To get started scroll down the page to the interactive map. There you’ll get some overview information about the start of the park and the map to explore.

Each type of landmark on the map is color-coded and you can find the key on the right side of the page. That’s also where you’ll find the navigation options for the map. You can just click on any of the dots to start exploring, but you can filter the map to just specific decades or type by using the options found on the right.

One of my favorite moments on the site was learning about how some documents belonging to Mr. Laumeier turned up and then were returned to the park.

I think you’ll have as much fun exploring this site as I did! Go check it out!
