You may have heard of Rotten Tomatoes, it’s a site that compiles reviews from movie critics and fan who say they’ve seen the movie to give an overall rating to a film. There’s been some controversy lately over alleged attempts to sabotage movies with bad reviews before they are even in wide release.
The problem is that there’s no way for Rotten Tomatoes to verify if user reviews are actually made by people who’ve seen the movie. And we all know that movie critics’ perceptions of films can vary widely from those of ordinary film-goers.
That’s why I like Cinemascore. The ratings from Cinemascore come from people who’ve actually been to the film. The company polls them in the theater and has people fill out a ballot card. This prevents phony reviews and shows you what regular movie goers like yourself think of flicks.
When you arrive on the main page, you’ll see a list of current releases. Just scroll down to see what moviegoers have rated films on an A to F scale. Or type in the name of a movie to search for a review.
