Many years ago I read a great fantasy novel by R.A. MacAvoy called Book of Kells. It was the story of a professor studying the Book of Kells who was transported back in time.
The real-life Book of Kells is a famous, illustrated Medieval manuscript created around the year 800. So, I was excited when I learned it was possible to view the entire work online.
The Book of Kells consists of the first four books of the New Testament, illustrated with incredible images. It was kept at the Abbey of Kells for many centuries. Now Trinity College in Dublin is hosting it online where everyone can view it.
The interface is pretty simple. Manuscript pages are on the right. Simply click on the desired page to view and use the plus and minus keys to zoom in and out.
There are 680 amazing pages to scroll through.
