If you’re worried about your every move being tracked while using the Internet on your Android phone, I’ve got some great news for you. The ultra-private Tor browser is now available for Android phones.
The mobile version of this app is still pretty new but should be fairly stable. Why should you consider using Tor? In a word: privacy.
Tor Browser isolates each website you visit to prevent ads and trackers from following you around the Internet as you surf. You know how sometimes you look up a product and an ad for it follows you everywhere you go online? That won’t happen with Tor.
Tor prevents anyone from monitoring your connection from tracking your activity. That could be the government or a big corporation like Google.
This is achieved with multi-layer encryption that makes all Tor users look the same to anyone watching, so there’s no way to track an individual’s movements. You’ll also be able to access sites that your local ISP may have blocked.
You can check it out by following this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.torproject.torbrowser or by opening the Play Store on your phone and searching for Tor Browser.
There’s a brief informational video you can watch about the browser. Tap Install to add it to your phone.
As this browser is still a work in progress, it’s not as fully featured as other browsers, at least not yet. But if privacy is a top concern, you may wish to give it a try.
