The first thing I do when I get a new computer is to change the basic background to a picture of my choosing. It just feels more personal to me. Let’s look at how to do it in Windows 10.
If there’s a picture you particularly like, you can right-click on it in file explorer and choose Set as desktop background from the drop-down menu.
If you open up that image using the Photos app, click on the three-dot menu icon at the top-right of photos and choose Set as from the drop-down menu.
Then select Set as background.
For more choices, click on any blank spot on your desktop and choose Personalize.
Click the box under Background to choose between a picture, solid color, or a slideshow of images.
If you select Picture, you can choose between images suggested by Windows or click Browse and choose an image saved on your computer.
Choose a solid color and pick from 24 colors or create your own custom color.
When you select Slideshow, it will automatically pick your Pictures folder and cycle through the images. You can choose how often the picture changes, ranging from every minute to once a day. Leave Shuffle off to see your images in order or on if you’d like them switched up randomly.
Click on Choose a fit and pick between having pictures fill the screen, be centered, tiled, or stretched.
