I’ve told you about the free Opera browser before. (click here if you’d like to check out some of my articles about Opera).
One of the great features of Opera is that it offers a free Virtual Private Network or VPN for more secure browsing. (If you want to learn more about how VPNs work, you can click here.)
Here’s how to enable the VPN feature in the browser. Start by opening Opera.
Click the three-line menu icon at the top right.
Scroll down to Privacy & Security.
Next to VPN, click Enable in Settings.
Click on the acknowledgment. Using a VPN could slow down your browsing speed. If you find it’s an issue, you can always switch it off or switch to another browser, saving Opera for when security is a priority over speed.
Slide the VPN button to the On position. It will turn blue. Once it’s turned on, you’ll have the option to bypass the VPN when using your default search engine.
I don’t notice any significant difference in speed with the VPN activated. To switch off, just move that Enable VPN switch to the Off position.
