A reader made an excellent suggestion:
“I suspect many users need power strips for the numerous electronic devices they have. For a couple of bucks more than normal you can buy power strips, with surge protection and a couple of USB outlets.”
That’s a great idea. Powerstrips are not only great because they give you extra outlets, but many offer surge protection which can keep your devices from being damaged in the event of a power surge or unexpected electrical interruption.
I’ve found six-outlet power strips with three USB ports for $15 on Amazon. I wouldn’t be surprised if they might be even less expensive at a big box store.
For a few dollars more, you can get one with six USB ports. This would be great for a family with multiple phone users.
Put one of these on a shelf and you have a handy phone and tablet charging station.
For travelers, I recommend keeping a power strip with plenty of USB ports in your carry-on bag. With power outlets at a premium in most airports, you will be the hero of the day if you break out a power strip that allows a number of travelers to charge their devices from a single outlet. Great way to make friends, networking contacts and business prospects!
