Kindle Fire Blue Shade

Here’s a Kindle eReader feature that I learned a lot more about because I accidentally turned it on.

I noticed my screen had an unusual yellowish cast and began to investigate.

That’s when I learned about Blue Shade. This feature is designed to make it easier for you to get to sleep at night. Device screens give off blue light, which can make it harder to fall asleep at night. This feature dims the blue cast when it gets close to your bedtime. Let’s look at how to activate.

Swipe down from the top screen. When the menu pops up, tap on the gear symbol to see Settings.

Scroll down to Display.

From here, you can adjust the brightness level. You can also decide if you want your tablet to automatically adjust the brightness level for available light. To control the amount of blue light, tap on Blue Shade.

Adjust the slider bar next to Color to adjust the level of the color change. If you’d like to schedule Blue Shade to turn on automatically, slide the Automatic Activation switch. Tap on Schedule to set up the times for activation.

Enter your times or choose to have it automatically turn on and off at sunrise and sunset.

If you’d prefer to manually activate Blue Shade, just swipe down from the top and tap on Blue Shade in the quick settings menu.
