For 181 years, the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society has offered help to fishermen, mariners, and their families in need. Each year, this UK-based organization holds a photography contest focusing on the sea.
Over 2,000 entries were submitted for 2020 in four categories:
- Coastal ViewsÂ
- People & Recreation
- Industry
- Ships & Wrecks
The society selected a winner in each category plus an overall winner. The stunning images ranged from a lively pup playing in the water at Findhorn Beach to crashing waves in County Durham to a shipwreck.

Each image is beautiful in its own way. I can’t imagine how they’re able to even select a winner. The images showcase the variety and beauty of the island nation and it’s deep connection with the ocean.
