How long will your laptop battery last? Your Windows laptop will give you an estimate but how accurate is that information? There’s an easy way to check out the real performance statistics. Here’s how:
Start by right-clicking on your Start Menu and choosing Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu that pops up. Grant permission to access your files.
Type cd %userprofile%\Documents into Command Prompt and hit enter. There’s a space between cd and the first %, don’t miss that.
When Documents shows up at the prompt, type powercfg /batteryreport and press the enter key.
Now, open the Documents folder on your PC. The battery report will be saved as an HTML document. Double-click to open.
At the top, you’ll see the battery report for your device.
Scroll down to see your recent battery history for the past few days.
Keep scrolling to view your activity over the life of your device.
You can even check out an estimate based on the total battery usage over the life of your device.
