A reader has an issue slowing down his computer:
“I have two startup files running all the time – I think – and Norton says makes computer slow – and it is. can I fix this without messing up my computer?”
Let’s see if we can’t track the culprit down. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to open your Task Manager. Then click the Startup tab.
Scroll down and check out the programs running at Startup. The Startup impact shows you how much of your system resources they use. If you see something with a high impact, you can highlight it and choose Disable at the bottom.
If you aren’t sure exactly what it is, try right-clicking and choosing Search Online from the menu that pops up.
The results can provide helpful information about what a process does.
