Mac Chrome Search Shortcuts

The address bar in Chrome for your Mac is more than just an address bar. It’s a highly useful search tool known as an omnibox.

Here are a few shortcuts to make searching easier on your Mac computer.

Search with your default search engineType a search term + Enter
Search using a different search engineType a search engine name and press Tab
Add www. and .com to a site name, and open it in the current tabType a site name + Control + Enter
Add www. and .com to a site name, and open it in a new tabType a site name + Control + Shift + Enter
Open the website in a new background tabType a web address + ⌘ + Enter
Jump to the address bar⌘ + l
Remove predictions from your address barDown arrow to highlight + Shift + fn + DeleteForward Delete or fn-Delete on a laptop
Move cursor to the address barControl + F5
