A reader commented on our post about turning off background apps in Windows. (Click here to read that tip.)

“Very good info, Cyn. Is there a way to do this on an Android phone also?”

Android offers options for saving battery life by turning off background apps. In fact, on some phones, it’s the default setting. Here’s how to make sure it’s active on a Galaxy S21.

Start by opening Settings. Scroll down and tap on Battery and device care.

Tap on Battery.

When Battery opens, scroll down and tap on Background usage limits.

Make sure Put unused apps to sleep is turned on. Apps that you don’t use very often will go into Deep Sleep.
