Android Power Saving Mode

If you want to make your Android phone’s battery last longer try turning on power saving mode. I’ll demonstrate how to do it on a Galaxy S21, the exact method on your Android phone could vary.

Start by opening Settings and then scroll down to Battery and device care.

Tap on Battery.

Scroll down and tap on Power saving mode.

You can slide the button to turn on all the features of Power saving mode or select which features to use. You can choose to turn off the always on display, but it will take a bit longer to activate your phone. You can limit the CPU speed. That will save power but it can also slow down some apps. There’s also the choice to decrease brightness.

For maximum power savings, you can limit apps and home screen.

Limiting apps and home screen boosted my estimated battery life to 2 days and 9 hours.

  1. So Cyn, here is an issue I had on my Samsung S21. I use android auto when I am traveling so I can see Google maps on my dash. On a recent trip as I left home, the map couldn’t figure out where I was and thought I was still in my driveway when I was already on the highway 4 miles away. As an engineer I was troubleshooting the issue and found that the problem was due to putting the phone in powersaving mode. When I turned it off the map updated and knew where I was.

    As always, enjoy your stuff!
