Tim is back with “What I’m Watching.”
I’ve already mentioned how much I enjoy watching TV shows from other countries. Today in What I’m Watching I fell down another rabbit hole, this time with Netflix shows from Spain!
I began with a wonderful caper drama “Money Heist”. This one deals with a group of folks who plot to steal billions of Euros directly from one of the most secure places on the planet, The Royal Spanish Mint! The participants are code-named after cities, and work and live together as they plan the perfect heist. The great ensemble cast takes the audience through 31 episodes of adventures, with more set to premiere on September 3, 2021!
Several of the “Money Heist” cast members are also featured in “Elite”, a teen soap opera, in which three working-class scholarship students clash with their richer, more worldly classmates at an exclusive academy.
Each of Elite’s 8-episode stories is well told, often in flashback, filling in the gaps, backstories, and relationships of all the characters, as the plot and mysteries are revealed. I really don’t want to give much up on this one, as it is really fun to watch it all develop.
Season four of Elite dropped on Netflix in late June with four additional 3-episode “Elite Short Stories”. Each of these shorts are centered on a select few of the Elite characters apiece, and take place in between season 3 and season 4, so watch them before you enjoy season 4.
