I’m sort of obsessed with Twitch right now. It’s my go to procrastination platform. It’s been around since 2011, but I’ve only really just started getting into it.

I discovered that a lot of the content I watch on YouTube is first live-streamed on Twitch. For the curious,  I watch a lot of video game content on YouTube.  This makes Twitch a great fit for me, because  the site primarily focuses on video gaming, including playthroughs of video games by users, broadcasts of e-sports competitions, and other gaming-related events.

What I was shocked by was how large the community is. It’s one thing to watch a video on YouTube and see that it has a lot of views, and another thing to watch a livestream with 30,000 other people.

When you arrive at the site, there will be some game streaming live on the main page. I pause it, so I can check out all the featured content without distraction. At the left, you’ll see a list of recommended channels. As you scroll down the page, you’ll find content sorted by Games, In Real Life, Music, and eSports.

If you create an account you can follow your favorite live streamers and even be notified when they’re streaming live so that you can hop on over to check out what they’re up to.

This is a great way to participate in the community surrounding your favorite games, go check it out today!
