Ever get confused by all the different Microsoft mail options out there? There’s the free Outlook online email service, the premium Outlook email client that comes as part of Microsoft 365, and the Outlook mobile app. Let’s not forget the Windows Mail client that comes pre-installed in Windows 10 and 11.
Microsoft has a plan to clear up that confusion by replacing the current Windows Mail and Calendar app that comes preinstalled on your PC with a version of Outlook based on the look of the Outlook online email client.
Sources say the preview of this new app will be available for testing this spring. It was originally scheduled to go into preview last summer, but that didn’t happen.
The preview doesn’t mean you’ll see the Windows Mail and Calendar apps replaced anytime soon. The apps must first go through several rounds of Windows Insider testing and updating before it’s updated in Windows 11.
