Goodbye Live Tiles, hello Widgets! One of the biggest changes to Windows 11 is the end of Live tiles. They’ve been around for 9 years since the introduction of Windows 8 but have never really been that popular with users.

Instead, Windows 11 brings back the Widget. Widgets combine features formerly found in live tiles and in Cortana, including weather updates, a calendar, to-do lists, and more.

You’ll notice the weather temperature and weather displayed on the left side of your taskbar. Click the temperature to open Widgets.

Like Live Tiles, you can resize and rearrange the Windows 11 widgets. They look kind of similar to the Interests feature that Microsoft added to Windows 10.

Click the 3-dot icon at the top corner of each widget to resize.

Compare the small weather icon.

To the medium.

To the large.

Widgets offer customization options based on the type of information they deliver.

For example, the weather widget offers options for temperature scale and location.

Click Add widgets at the bottom to add more widgets.

You can add options like your Outlook Calendar, a To Do list, Traffic, and more.
