Bob’s been having an issue with his DVD player since the latest Windows update.
“Since my Laptop updated to latest version of Windows 11, I can’t get my USB DVD drive to play any of my DVD? Do you know how to get it to work?”
I can think of a few things to try. First, do you have another PC in the house not running that version of Windows 11? Try plugging it in and seeing if you can get it to work there. It’s possible your drive might have coincidentally had a mechanical failure at the same time updates came down. Also, do you have another USB cord you can plug it into the PC with? Cable failure is frequently the hidden culprit when stuff stops working.
My next suggestion would be to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your device. Try going to the manufacturer’s website and downloading the very latest version.
Or try opening Device Manager.
Then scroll down until you find your device, then right-click on it and choose Update Driver.
You could also open a support ticket with the printer manufacturer or with Microsoft and let them know about the issue.
Just waiting to see if Microsoft offers an update that takes care of the problem is an option as well. After a big update, you can usually expect some bugs followed by updates to address the issues.
If none of that helps, you could try going to Windows Update and clicking on View update history.
Scroll down to Related settings and click on Uninstall updates.
Try uninstalling the update you think caused the problem. Check to see if your DVD player works now. Let me know if any of this helps.
