You ought to complain to someone!

Fed up with scams? Want to report being tricked or targeted? The Federal Trade Commission offers a convenient one-stop site for filing a variety of complaints. These complaints do not take the place of notifying the police if you believe you’ve been scammed. However, it does help the government find fraudsters and take action, though sometimes that’s a bit down the road. Let’s get started.

Follow this link to go to the FTC’s Complaint Assistant:  https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/Information#crnt&panel1-1

When you land, click on Report Now:

If you find that you have trouble navigating the page, technical assistance is available through the Chatbot box at the top right.

When you land, you can choose between the most common types of scams including impersonators, shopping, jobs, utilities, health, repairs, sweepstakes, credits, and other issues.

Click on that and you’ll be asked to answer a few questions before telling the story in your own words.

This won’t put an immediate stop to scammers, but it does help in the long run.
