Considering how much Twitter is in the news these days and what a big part it plays in politics, I thought you might enjoy this site that imagineswhat tweets would have looked like in the early 20th century. It explores how political discourse would have looked in the past by using real words to imagine tweets.
The historical interjections documented in Hansard, the official record of Australia’s parliamentary proceedings from 1901 and 1980. As stated on the site, the words, speakers, and dates are real, but the Twitter handles, stats, and times are invented.
When you arrive at the site the first tweet will load, after a short time, a View 1 new tweet notification will appear. Click that to continue the Twitter feed. What I love is that you can click the links in the tweets to visit the documentation for the session the tweet is drawn from.
This is an incredible way to experience history! Go check it out for yourself today!
