In today’s tip, we’ll explore Settings. Let’s start by checking out the basics for controlling the look of the start page. By default, Brave shows you a background image with a clock and statistics about the security protection the browser is providing.
At the bottom right, you can click on the Dashboard Settings and choose whether you want a background image, stats, or the clock displayed. You can also choose to have shortcuts for frequently visited sites displayed.
You’ll also find icons for accessing Settings, Bookmarks, and your browsing history.
You can also access Settings by clicking the three-line menu icon at the top right of the browser and choosing Settings from the drop-down menu.
The Settings window will open.
The tabs at the top allow you to navigate between Settings, Rewards, History, Bookmarks, Downloads, and Wallet.
Your first option is to pick a profile name and select an icon. You can also import bookmarks and settings from this menu and choose to make Brave your default browser.
Your next decision is which page or pages display when you open Brave. You can choose between a new blank page, to open up where you left off, or to always start on a specific page or set of pages.
You can choose to put in an address for a page or use the currently open page or pages as your start page.
Your next options are to adjust the appearance of the browser. Choose between light or dark themes. Click on Themes and you’ll be able to select from a variety of choices in the Chrome web store. (Brave is based on the Chromium browser, the same as Chrome.)

You can also choose whether you want to display the Home button, widen the address bar, or show the Rewards button when rewards are not enabled. This is also where you can decide if you want a Bookmarks bar at the top of the page or even if you want one at all.
Use Font size & Customize fonts to adjust the size of fonts.
Scroll down to Extensions to turn extensions off or on. To add additional extensions, you can open the Chrome Web Store.
