I’m sure most of you have heard of the Do Not Call registry. But just in case you haven’t or don’t know a whole lot about other than it exists, how about we go over the basics?
The Do Not Call registry allows you to choose whether or not you receive certain kinds of unsolicited telemarketing calls.
Let’s head over to the website to check it out: https://www.donotcall.gov/
You can register both your landline and your cell number for free. It’s a pretty simple process. Just click on Register Your Phone.
If you aren’t sure if you’ve already registered a number, click on Verify Here.
Then type in up to three phone numbers and your email address. Then click on Submit.
You’ll then receive an email for each of the numbers confirming whether or not it is registered within a minute or two. If you don’t see it, check your junk or spam folder. That’s where my messages went. If you haven’t registered, it’s as easy as filling out your number or numbers and adding an email address. Before hitting submit. The registration never expires.
Within 31 days of registering, most legitimate telemarketers should stop calling you. This does not apply to charitable or political organizations. If you still find that you’re receiving illegal telemarketing calls, you can follow this link to register a complaint with the FTC: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
Keep in mind that overseas scammers don’t give a darn about things like this and it won’t have any effect on those horrible scamming robocall telling you that your Microsoft account is about to be shut down by the FBI.
