While giving up social media can have several benefits, there are also some downsides to consider, including:
1. FOMO: Fear of missing out (FOMO) is a common feeling among social media users, and giving up social media can make you feel disconnected from your social circle and miss out on important news and events.
2. Reduced Social Connections: Social media can be a way to connect with people, and giving it up can mean losing touch with friends and acquaintances who use social media as their primary communication channel.
3. Limited Information Access: Social media can be a source of news and information, and giving up social media can limit your access to current events, updates, and other important information that is shared through social media channels.
It’s important to weigh the pros and cons of giving up social media and decide what works best for you based on your personal preferences and needs.
I don’t need to give “social” the boot because I do not have, and never did have, any social media accounts. I also don’t have a smartphone, a web cam or a microphone. “Old tech,” like voice calls, voicemail, and email work just fine for me, and I’m doin’ just fine.
