“I’m using a password manager app, and the ‘master’ password for this app is a long phrase, just as you described. However, each entry in this password database for each website still uses the older passwords. Are you suggesting that ALL passwords should be upgraded to this longer phrase standard?”
While your password manager is handy, all of those passwords still exist out there attached to your various accounts which means someone could try to break into your account. So it’s important to have a secure password on all accounts.
However, the most important step you can take is to enable multi-factor authentication on all of your accounts.
Most accounts are compromised when hackers get into databases of the companies and make off with your passwords. Having that extra step can thwart attacks and keep your account safe.
