The stuff we used to see as sci-fi spy gear in the movies is becoming part of everyday life. Prime example: PogoTec’s PogoCam. This tiny device attaches to eyeglasses or sunglasses and lets you take video on the go.
PogoTec has teamed up with glasses makers to make this tech available for both prescription and non-prescription eyewear.
The camera is super-lightweight, weighing less than two dimes and are only measures 10.9 x 12.5 x 42.8 millimeters. It attaches magnetically to the frame using a special track called, not surprisingly, PogoTrack. Users can take up to 100 photographs or two minutes of HD Video. Don’t worry, the camera has a blinking light that lets people know that it is active, so you won’t be photographed unaware. When you aren’t using the camera, you can simply, slide it off your glasses and drop it in your pocket.
The camera fits into a small pocket-sized case that also recharges the device and transmits the images on the camera’s hard drive to your mobile device. The camera focuses and white balances automatically and works in conjunction with a smartphone app.
The camera will work with more than 25 different frame styles including 12 styles of Foster Grant sunglasses and 12 styles of Ocean Pacific eyewear as well as a full line of Argus Vision sunglasses and designs from Vista Eyewear, an Italian firm that makes handmade frames.
The company says it can see many practical applications for the device including an alertness monitor to stop drivers from falling asleep or a UV meter to prevent sunburn. The company is also looking into options to adapt PogoCam for medical, construction, public safety, and construction applications.
PogoCam is expected to be priced just under $150 (not including frames). It will be available in optical shops as well as in electronics stores and will officially launch on March 30.

So glad you mentioned this item. Do we really need to spy on one another? Sure, today it’s a novelty remaining so until someone uses it is court. I don’t like where these new devices are headed relative to privacy and ‘big brother watching.’

I’d love to have one. But the privacy assurances bother me. A little paint will cover that little red dot up and you’ll never know it’s operating. This is a tool that pervert will love. Pavarotti’s will be harder to avoid. As you mentioned when these are used in court people will have a big reaction to them.
