This is the site where I ended up doing my transcription project for my Digital Humanities class. I really loved the interface and there’s a larger selection of manuscript styles to choose from. They’re all manuscripts from the 18th-century that have been digitized.
When you arrive at the site, you’ll find an introductory paragraph about the project, a link to learn more about 18Connect, and a search box that will let you look for your favorite 18th-century text. I suggest getting started by clicking the Edit button on the featured text (when I was there it was The Winter’s Tale). This will bring up a login popup, where you can click the Create a New Account link to get registered.
After you’re registered and logged in you can begin transcribing the text. I love that this version goes line by line and is zoomed in so you can really see the characters. It also contains all the instructions you need on the transcription page.
