The story behind Windows XP Wallpaper

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Every picture has a story.” And so does every wallpaper.  One of the best-known desktop backgrounds is the iconic photo that served as the default background for Windows XP.


Did you know that image has a name?  It’s called “Bliss.”  Did you also know that it was unedited? You’ll find out a bunch more fascinating facts about the image and the story of how it came to be, in a feature on the fabulous “Atlas Obscura,” site.

People still come to the site of the photograph to take their own photos, which this article features in a slideshow. It’s a fun bit of tech history.
