Transfering your Outlook email client contacts from your computer to Gmail, not only lets you import your contacts into Gmail, it also allows you to access your contacts from your phone. So, it’s a quick and easy way to get Outlook contacts from your computer to your phone.
We’ll start with the process of exporting the contacts from your PC. These are instructions for moving contacts from the Outlook email program that’s part of Office. If you want to import contacts from an outlook.com email address, you can skip the whole exporting part and just move down to where you import to Gmail. Outlook.com will be one of your options.
Open Outlook on your PC and choose File.
Then select Open and Export followed by Import/Export
The Import and Export Wizard will open. Choose Export to File and then Next.
Scroll down and choose Contacts. Then click Next.
Choose Comma Separated Values and then Next.
Name the file and then click Next.
It will take a few seconds for the file to save.
Your next step is to open a browser and go to your Gmail inbox. If you’re importing Outlook.com contacts, you can start with this step.
Click the drop-down arrow next to Gmail at the left of your inbox and chose Contacts from the menu. Since I was using a Beta version of the Gmail inbox, I had to click a dialog box to open the old version. It may or may not happen to you. It only took one extra click.
When Contacts opens, click the arrow next to More.
You can choose between an email service like Outlook.com or Yahoo or scroll down and choose CSV.
Select the file you saved earlier and then hit Import.
You should now have access to your Outlook contacts.
