Worried you might be spending too much time on Facebook? The app now has some new tools to help you keep track of how much time you spend using it and to remind yourself to put down your phone and go outside and play.

Here’s how to use them. Open the Facebook app on your phone and click the three-line menu icon at the top right.

Choose Settings & Privacy from the drop-down menu.

Then tap Your time on Facebook.

You’ll see the amount of time you’ve spent using the app in the past week, along with how long you’ve been on for that day. This is mine. And, well, yikes!

If you’d like to give yourself a gentle reminder to spend less time looking at your phone, scroll down to Set daily reminder and tap to open.

The reminder box will open.

Swipe your finger up or down in the box to set the amount of time. Then tap Set reminder.

When you reach your allotted time for the day, Facebook will send you a reminder.
