Want to change what happens with your laptop when you close the lid or put it to sleep? I’ve got a quick tip on how to manage your power options. Start by finding the battery icon at the lower-right side of your taskbar.
Right-click and select Power Options from the menu.
Click on Choose what closing the lid does.
This window will open.
You’ll see options for controlling what happens when you press the power button, what happens when you press the sleep buttons, and what happens when you close your laptop’s lid.
Next to each option, you can customize the choice for when the laptop is working on battery or when it is plugged in.
Your first option is to Choose what happens when you press the power button. Click the drop-down arrow inside the box to choose between Do nothing, Sleep, Hibernate, Shut down or Turn off the display.
Your next choice is to Choose what happens When I press the sleep button.
Lastly, you can pick what happens when you close the lid of your laptop. This can be handy if you’d like to leave your PC running and have it instantly ready to go when you open it back up. Keep in mind that it will burn a lot of battery.
Don’t forget to save your settings.
