A reader received an email and is pretty sure it’s a big, fat fake.

Great catch! Phishing emails like this are designed to trigger a fear response that causes you to act before you think.
This one tries to play it both ways by offering both a carrot (10 more GB’s of free storage) and a stick (your account will be deactivated immediately).
The need for immediate action or else is usually a pretty good indicator of a scam. Notice they put that bit in about it taking a few hours to do the upgrade. That gives the scammers plenty of time to go through your email and your cloud storage for any information they might want to steal.

Always appreciate your comments on these scams. I’ve received the same one from ‘Amazon” many times over the last 6 weeks.
