Gmail Quick Settings Part 2

Yesterday we began our look at Gmail’s new Quick Settings menu. It’s an easy way to customize your inbox quickly (You can click here to read part 1 of that tip.)

Today, we’ll check out even more options for customizing your inbox. Start by opening up your Gmail inbox. Click the gear icon at the upper right.

When the Quick Settings menu opens, scroll down to Inbox Type.

By default, your inbox is sorted into three tabs: Primary, Social, and Promotions.

Click Customize to make some changes.

Choose to add more tabs or not to separate your inbox into tabs at all. Don’t forget to hit Save.

You can also sort your inbox so that Important, Unread, or Starred messages display at the top.

Here, I’ve picked Important first.

Click on the Customize options under Priority and Multiple inboxes to make advanced choices on how mail is sorted.

You can add up to five custom sections.

We’re not quite through yet. We’ll continue our look tomorrow in part 3 of this series.
